Avenues Overseas as the name suggests is an organisation dedicated towards providing services to Indian students in making educational avenues abroad accessible to them.

New Zealand

New Zealand is located in the south-west Pacific Ocean, midway between the Equator and the South Pole. New Zealand is similar in size to Japan, Britain and Italy. There are two main islands, the North Island and the South island. They are separated by Cook Strait.

Wellington is the capital of New Zealand

New Zealand is an independent parliamentary democracy within the commonwealth. The formal head of the state is Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand, who is represented in New Zealand by the Governor-General.

The total population of New Zealand is 38,31,000

Education is provided from primary school to university and is compulsory between the ages of six and sixteen. Most of the nations 2,300 primary and 330 secondary schools are supported by the state and administered by the local board of trustees. Others are supported by churches or private interests.

There are eight universities and 25 technical institutes and community colleges spread throughout the country, providing tertiary education. A growing number of Asian and Pacific island students are choosing to travel to New Zealand to study at tertiary institutions.

New Zealanders are, by nature, inquisitive and adventurous. They encourage new, independent thinking, exploration and research. As a result, New Zealand degrees have a reputation around the world for being practical, modern and desirable. In some niche areas such as biotechnology, forensic science and marine engineering, New Zealand degrees are acknowledged as s simply the best in the world.


More than 3,000 Indian students are currently studying in New Zealand. There are 85,000 international students studying in New Zealand and by the year 2004 the figure will rise to nearly 1,00,000 students.

There has been nearly 300% increase in students from India going to New Zealand. Avenues Overseas is an approved New Zealand advisor and has placed more than 200 students in various institutes at New Zealand.

Students can work 15 hours per week during semester and full time during vacation. Students can earn between NZ$ 12 to NZ$ 15 per hour.

Students can apply for Work Permit and also can apply for Permanent Residency.
